Planktonic microorganisms including bacteria, archaea, protists, and microalgae, are important drivers of food and energy fluxes in the ocean. We use geochemical and microbiological tools to better understand microbially mediated elemental cycles in marine environments, ranging from the coastal ocean to the deep-sea.
